If the sides of the box are left open - then the entire card project can still lay flat, but we are including the side pieces so that you can close off the sides and add a chocolate bar in the bottom of your triple easel card or something of a similar size to a Hersheys bar, for example photos, a longer letter, a gift-card or cash or small cosmetic items will definitely fit into the little box below and you can close the easel, so that when the pull tab is completely pulled and extended - you can reveal a special message without showing the little gift that you chose to include in the box below. Keep in mind that once you close up the gift box on the sides, the card will be stationary and can no longer fold flat. The die will do all the work for you to create the box. To keep with the celestial theme, we are including moon phases with your die set as well as a circle die that allows you to cut into your box shape, that circle is the perfect size for a tea light to be displayed on each side of your card box. That is a very special display of your triple easel.
