Coloring Stamps with Distress Watercolor Pencils
Hi, crafty friends. I have a card set to share today featuring a fun faux watercolor technique using Distress Watercolor Pencils.
To create these cards, I started by spritzing the large butterfly image from the "Heartfelt Wings" 6x8 stamp set with water inside my MISTI. While the image was wet, I added color directly on the stamp with Distress Watercolor Pencils.
I was going for an “artsy” watercolor look so I spritzed the image again with water and stamped. The more water you spray the more "loose" the image will stamp. I experimented and achieved different looks by stamping a few times with varying amounts of water.
I also experimented by stamping the image with the remaining color a second time to get the second generation image. Again, this created a looser stamped impression with a slightly lighter color than the first generation.
I ink blended the edges of each card with Kitsch Flaming Distress Oxide ink and spritzed water on top for some added texture and interest. I finished off the card by stamping sentiments from the same stamp set in black. I kept these cards simple and didn’t add any embellishments to keep them one layer cards!
I love how each one looks slightly different…
I hope this inspires you to use your Distress Watercolor Pencils on your next project.
Thank you for visiting today. Happy crafting!
