Nutcracker Ballet Shadow Box Book

Hi there Scrappy Tails Crafters! Today, we are sponsoring and participating in a fun Birthday celebration hop over on Youtube!
My card for the hop is a Christmas themed Birthday card, why not?! I have someone in my family that has a December Birthday and she absolutely adores the Nutcracker Ballet, so I thought this would be a perfect card for her!

Video Tutorial

Deborah from Debbie J's Crafting Corner and Neha from Crescent Creations have put together a fun Birthday video hop over on Youtube! Be sure to leave your comments on everyone's video along the hop for a chance to win one of 10 prizes! That's right 10!! Including a $25 gift card to Scrappy Tails, Yay!

Card Process

My book card base was created using dies from the Scrappy Tails "A7 Shadow Box Book" die set. Be sure to watch the video above to see how these amazing pop up cards are made!

I decorated the front cover of my book using the "A7 Music Note Cover Plate" die set. I die cut it from red card stock and matted gold behind it.

In the center, I added some plaid pattern paper and three ballerina's that I paper pieced from the "A7 Theatre Cover Plate" die set. Behind them, I also added a spotlight, which I cut from vellum.

Lastly, I stamped a "Happy Birthday" sentiment and cut it into a banner shape.

The front cover was finished off with a scattering of gold pearls.

A peek inside my book. I wanted the inside to look like a Nutcracker stage with an area on the left to add a handwritten note.

I also included some of the same pattern paper I used on the front cover to tie in the design inside the book.

The inner cover page was created with pattern papers and some stamped images from the Scrappy Tails "Nutcracker Ballet" 6x8 stamp set. I used the coordinating dies to die cut them all.

I added a gold decorative oval and a solid pattern paper oval that I die cut from the "A7 Fancy Ovals" die set. The pattern is tone-on-tone so you can definitely write a message on it.

I decorated the shadow box using a bunch of images from the same "Nutcracker Ballet" stamp set. I colored all of the images with my Copic markers. I decided to use a rainbow of colors to create a fun bright theatre scene!

I adhered some of the images with foam tape and some with regular glue. To add dimension, I glued some of my images directly to the book pages at different levels.

The stage wall was created with some of the same plaid pattern paper.

The stage floor was created with a brown strip of card stock. This helped to ground all of my stamped images.

The stage curtains were created using the Scrappy Tails "A7 Theatre Cover Plate" die set. I glued it right over my shadow box frame, covering it completely. I love how this die cut frames all of my images inside the shadow box.
