Pink and Main | September 2019 | 5 cards 1 kit

Hello, I hope everyone is having a great week. Thank you for reading up on today's blog post!  Today, I'm showcasing five cards that I created with the Pink and Main September 2019 card kit. I tried to use a little bit of everything that came in the kit to create four Fall themed cards and one holiday card. Overall, I enjoyed working with the stamp set and the stencil that came in the kit. I especially loved the sentiments that came in the stamp set, they're great for both Fall and Thanksgiving cards. However I will admit that I struggled with this months kit. While the kit came packed with goodies, I still had trouble coming up with ideas.
Note that all of my card bases were created with heavy weight 110 lb white Nina card-stock, two of my card bases are 5.25 inch square cards. I used the colored card-stock that came in the kit for my card panels. This kit unfortunately sold out. However, I will link to the extra supplies that I used in today's blog post. Please Let me know which one was your favorite! If you have any questions, you can go ahead and write them in the comment section, and I will try to respond to you as soon as possible.

Card One

Well... card one was a trouble child.  There wasn't just one mistake that happened during the card making process, but rather 4 total mistakes. (check out my video below) It happens right? Sometimes we have a picture in our heads for a perfect card layout and then it just doesn't turn out the way you pictured it turning out. In the end, it ended up being alright, because after some slight "improvised fixes", I managed to put together a fairly pretty card, that just happens to be slightly unbalanced! I create this card by first die cutting a stitched circle from some of the maroon card stock that came in the kit. I went ahead and gold heat embossed the sentiment "The leaves are falling and autumn is calling"onto the circle. Then, I cut down a kraft panel to 5 x 5 inches and got to stamping. I placed my panel into my misti and stamped out all the leaves and the acorn image from the stamp set. I made sure to try and stamp in a circular shape, to try and create a Fall wreath. As a helpful guide, I traced a large circle shape onto my kraft panel and placed my stamps along the traced circle. I would recommend using a Gina K. wreath builder template if you have one. After I stamped my wreath I went ahead and gold heat embossed everything.

I decided to color in my leaves with Prismacolored pencils. I love the look of colored pencils on kraft card-stock! After that I popped up my maroon sentiment circle and added some Nuvo Drops. Personally, I felt I went way overboard with the Nuvo drops and instantly regretted adding them after I spent close to 40 minutes coloring all those leaves and acorns. In an attempt to fix the wreath, I added some of the gold sequins that came in the kit. I think it improved the card slightly, but if I were to do this card over, I'd skip both the Nuvo drops and the sequins.

Card Two

After creating card one, I felt that it was best to try and create a more simple design for card two. I started by trimming down the maroon sweater patterned paper to 3.75 x 5 inches. To spruce up the pattern, I decided to gold heat emboss on top of the pattern paper using one of the knit layering stamps from the stamp set. I created the tag on this card by first gold heat embossing the sentiment "Autumn Greetings" onto one of the small cream tags that came in the kit. I added some yellow pattern paper to the bottom of the tag as well as a skinny gold foiled strip above that. I strung through some of the ric rac that came in the kit above my tag. I made the tag even cuter by tying an orange bow to the ric rac and adding one of the tree metal charms that came in the kit. This charm is quite heavy and bulky, so I will be hand delivering this card. I attached a kraft pattern strip to the left of my maroon sweater panel and then adhered my tag right next to it at an angle. To finish the card, I sprinkled a few gold sequins around the tag.

Card Three

This mitten holiday card is probably my favorite out of the five that I created. And guess what? I didn't even use a die to create those adorable mittens! I simply drew a mitten shape on the back of one of the sweater pattern papers and fussy cut it with my scissors. I used one mitten to create the other by flipping the mitten around and tracing it onto the same pattern paper. Make sure you flip your mitten over, in order to have the thumb pointing in the opposite direction to create a left or right handed mitten. (see video) I love how the patten paper really makes those mittens look knitted. After I cut both my mittens, I white heat embossed the knit heart from the stamp-set over them. This adds a really cute touch to those fairly plain mittens! i also went a head and added some white card-stock to the cuffs of the mittens. To make them a little more festive I decided to add some die cut holly leaves and berries to the cuffs. I completed these mittens by adding some red and white bakers twine beneath them. I then cut down a kraft pattern paper to 5 x 5 inches. I white heat embossed the sentiment "cozy greetings" onto this panel. I decided to adhere one mitten directly onto the kraft panel and pop the other one up with foam tape.

Card Four

Obviously, if you live in a colder state, this sweater stamp set can be very useful for you. You can probably mail sweater cards 8 months out of the year! Because of this reason I created more of a bright rainbow spring time sweater for card four. I inked up the sweater layering stamp with various rainbow colored inks and stamped each row horizontally down a 4 x 5.25 inch white panel. To fill in those left over white areas, I decided to color them in with my copic markers. I tried to find markers that closely resembled the inks that I used to stamp my background. You could instead, stamp out the other sweater layering stamp over the stamped background using the same colored inks. This will just take some extra time. However, you will get a perfect color match. Once my background was dry, I white heat embossed the knit heart stamp. This stamp created an interesting element to my rainbow sweater. I think the hearts would be really nice stamped in black too! For the sentiment, I white heat embossed "sweater weather is better weather" onto some black card stock. I trimmed my sentiment and attached it right in the center of my background. To add some sparkle to this card, I added some iridescent and silver sequins around the panel and adhered everything onto a black matte.

Card Five

Unfortunately, Florida does not experience Fall, so I've never seen beautiful autumn colored leaves in person before. However, that won't stop me from making a colorful fall leaf background for card five! I created the stitched square panel by inking up the leaf stencil from the kit with various colored inks. Most of the leaves feature two colors (orange and yellow, green and yellow, red and orange) On top of the stenciled background I added a gold foiled skeleton leaf, as well as a few gold sequins. Below the stitched square is one of the kraft stickers that came in the kit. I gold heat embossed a leaf, acorn, and the sentiment "Ever so thankful for you" onto the sticker. I colored in both the acorn and leaf using copic markers.
