Card Details
I started my light up pop up card by first die cutting all my lantern base pieces from the new Scrappy Tails "A7 Pop up Lantern" die set. I die cut every base piece from white card stock, including the basic window frames to go around my entire card.
Behind the window frames, I glued acetate to create the look of a glass lantern. On the front of the acetate, I added random glue lines above the lines on the window frames. Once the glue was semi-dry, I sprinkled on some chunky glass glitter. This created a frosted snowy look!
I kept the outside decorations fairly minimal with just a few small snowflakes from the Scrappy Tails "Snowflake Spinner" die set.
The front of the card was decorated with some more snowflakes, and a silver lantern that I paper pieced using the new Scrappy Tails "Christmas Church" die set.
The top of the lantern on the front and back of the card was decorated with a lantern hook and a silver bow, both of those come in the original "A7 Pop up Lantern" die set.
Finally, I added a silver hot foiled Bold Christmas sentimentto the top of the card. I went with "O HOLY NIGHT" since it fit the church nicely.
I hid my Pear Blossom Press "EZ Lights" battery on the bottom right corner. If you turn the battery sideways, you won't see it at all! To indicate that the light needs to be "Pushed" I added a "Push Here" white heat embossed button right above the push button on the battery.
The inside light up centerpiece features the layering church from the new Scrappy Tails "Christmas Church" die set. I hid an EZ Lightbehind each of my three large windows on the church. The die set includes shadow dies that you can use to cut through the church so you can see through the windows. I added vellum behind the windows to mute down the light and give it that beautiful glowing appearance.
The back of my lantern features another silver lantern and a spot to add a personal message to the card. Yes, these lanterns can fold flat for mailing. Amanda's lights are also flat, so this card can be mailed to someone special! I think it would also be a beautiful home decor piece.
Here's a side glimpse of the card.
I love interactive cards, and this has two interactive elements to it!
Let me know what you think of my card in the comment section below. I hope you enjoy the hop!
